Report: West Ham Submits Official Bid for Premier League Star, Potentially Becoming Club’s Second Most Expensive Signing

Manchester City’s market for out-of-favor full-back Sergio Gomez has expanded this week, with two new clubs expressing interest, including one from England.

Having joined Manchester City from RSC Anderlecht in 2022, where he was managed by former captain Vincent Kompany, Gomez has mostly been limited to appearances from the substitutes bench and in domestic cup matches. Despite this, his talent and versatility have been highly regarded within the game, including among Manchester City’s coaching staff. Consequently, competition to sign him this summer is expected to be intense.

Interest in Gomez has intensified this week, with new reports indicating that additional clubs have emerged as potential suitors. According to CaughtOffside, Italian giants AS Roma are now set to hold talks to sign Sergio Gomez, but they face significant competition from clubs in Spain and England.

The report mentions that Real Sociedad, Real Betis, and Sevilla from Spain are keen to acquire the 23-year-old’s services, while Premier League side West Ham United is also a valid contender this summer. Manchester City is reportedly open to selling Gomez, with the club willing to accept offers between €15 million and €20 million.

Sergio Gomez boasts an impressive CV that is likely to attract many clubs looking for experienced players at various top levels in European football. He progressed through the academy at Catalan giants FC Barcelona, moved to Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund, excelled in various roles under Vincent Kompany at RSC Anderlecht, and then moved to the Etihad Stadium.
