Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering a loan move for Tottenham’s Manor Solomon this summer but face competition from Brighton and Leicester City, according to TBR Football.
Solomon had a challenging 2023/24 season, as a meniscus injury sidelined him for much of the campaign.
With only six appearances across all competitions, he has fallen out of favor in North London, and Tottenham is now looking to offload the Israeli winger.
Under Ange Postecoglou, Solomon has been overtaken in the pecking order by players like Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and Timo Werner, with academy graduate Mikey Moore also pushing for a spot in the first team.
Wolves, in search of a potential replacement for the possibly departing Pedro Neto, have identified Solomon as a target.
However, while Wolves are interested in a loan deal, Spurs would prefer a permanent transfer.
Wolves Eyeing Solomon
Solomon began his career at Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Israeli Premier League before making a move to Europe, joining Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2019 for an initial €6 million.
During his time in Ukraine, Solomon made 106 appearances for Shakhtar, establishing himself as a pacey and skillful winger. His performances attracted attention from several top European clubs.
Described as “explosive” by Jamie Carragher, Solomon’s loan spell at Fulham during the 2022/23 season was impressive enough to prompt Tottenham to sign him last summer.
However, after a promising start, the 25-year-old’s season was derailed by injury, sidelining him from October until the end of the season.
According to TBR Football, the Israeli international has returned to pre-season looking “rusty,” leading Postecoglou to exclude him from his future plans.
Due to his recent fitness issues, Solomon’s market value has declined, making it difficult for Spurs to secure a permanent transfer fee.
Wolves have expressed interest in Solomon, with manager Gary O’Neil keen on bolstering an attack that managed just 50 Premier League goals last season.
With Manchester City reportedly “set to hijack” Tottenham’s move for Pedro Neto, Solomon is being considered as a potential replacement for the Portuguese winger.
Neto, like Solomon, struggled with injuries last season but still contributed to eleven goals for Wolves.
O’Neil sees Solomon as having similar qualities to Neto and is eager to finalize a deal with Spurs before the new season begins.
Wolves Facing Possible Departures
Gary O’Neil may also have to contend with the departure of several key players this summer. Max Kilman has already left Molineux for West Ham, while Neto is attracting interest from multiple clubs.
Additionally, Manchester United reportedly “appreciates” midfielder Joao Gomes.
With United ending their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte, they could turn their attention to Gomes as an alternative.
Wolves value the Brazilian midfielder at £51.63 million and could be open to negotiations if United is willing to meet this valuation.
Gomes was a standout performer for Wolves last season, making 38 appearances, scoring twice, and providing one assist in all competitions.
As Wolves look to strengthen their squad, the potential loss of key players like Gomes and Neto could complicate their plans, making the signing of someone like Solomon all the more crucial.
