West Ham United announces that Ben Johnson and Divin Mubama will leave the club when their contracts expire on June 30, 2024.
Ben Johnson, an Academy of Football graduate, leaves after 17 years, having joined as a seven-year-old. Turning professional in 2018, Johnson debuted in the Premier League against Manchester City in February 2019. He made 109 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.
The 24-year-old played a key role in West Ham’s UEFA Europa League semi-final run in 2021/22, featuring in all six knockout matches. He also started eight games as West Ham clinched the UEFA Europa Conference League in June 2023. Subsequently, he won the UEFA European U21 Championship with England.
Nineteen-year-old forward Divin Mubama, also an Academy graduate, debuted in a UEFA Europa Conference League win at FCSB in Romania in November 2022. He scored his first senior goal in a round of 16 victory over AEK Larnaca at London Stadium in March 2023. Mubama has made 18 first-team appearances.
Mubama was part of the FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League South double-winning squad in 2022/23, earning the Mark Noble Young Hammer of the Year award. He has been capped by England at every level from U15 to U20.
