Leicester City is bolstering their squad for their return to the Premier League after promotion last season, with a particular need for a midfielder following Kieran Dewsbury-Hall’s £30m transfer to Chelsea.
So far, Leicester has added four permanent signings: Abdul Fatawu, Michael Golding, Bobby Decordova-Reid, and Caleb Okoli, along with a loan deal for Facundo Buonanotte.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Leicester is set to make Oliver Skipp their sixth signing of the summer.
Skipp will undergo a medical on Sunday, and his transfer could be confirmed before Leicester’s match against Tottenham on Monday.
However, Skipp would be ineligible to play in that game due to missing the registration deadline for gameweek one.
Leicester is expected to pay at least £20m for Skipp, who has been with Tottenham since 2008 and is one of their last remaining homegrown players in the senior squad.
The 23-year-old has seen limited action during pre-season and fell out of favor at Tottenham during the 2023/24 season, despite starting the season under Ange Postecoglou.
By the end of Postecoglou’s first season, Skipp had been shifted to an inverted left wing-back role.
Skipp will join fellow Tottenham academy graduate Harry Winks at Leicester, who signed with the club last summer when James Maddison moved in the opposite direction.
As Tottenham begins its second season under Postecoglou, Leicester has also experienced changes, with manager Enzo Maresca moving to Chelsea and being replaced by former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper.
