Chants of 'you don’t know what you’re doing' and 'sack the board' aimed at Ruud van Nistelrooy
Marco Silva expressed sympathy for Ruud van Nistelrooy after his Fulham team defeated Leicester City.
Van Nistelrooy faced criticism from the crowd at King Power Stadium for substituting Bilal El Khannouss in the second half of the 2-0 Premier League loss.
El Khannouss was the first player substituted off, replaced by Kasey McAteer in the 64th minute.
This decision was met with boos from the crowd, followed by chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing!” directed at the manager.
The frustration didn’t stop there, as chants of “sack the board” and “we want Rudkin out” echoed after Leicester conceded a second goal.
Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha, the club’s chairman, was present in the stands.
Silva shared his thoughts, saying, “We all understand what our roles mean, and of course, I feel sympathy. But he doesn’t need it as he is a professional.
We don’t make decisions based on reactions, but on what we think is best for the team. He made the decision he felt would benefit the team in that moment.”
He also noted, “I think we improved during the game, especially towards the end of the first half. We were more in control and played more like ourselves.”
