Leicester City entered the match struggling, having lost eight of their last nine Premier League games and failing to beat Manchester United in two previous encounters this season.

A challenging night was anticipated, and despite a valiant effort, they suffered a 2-1 defeat to United.

The Foxes held their own in the first half and even took the lead just before halftime through Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

“You’ve seen the game, the way he played, the way he lifted the team—on the ball, off the ball. His performance was excellent, but also his leadership,” Van Nistelrooy said.

He continued: “It wasn’t just the captain’s armband he wore; it was the way he led the team, the way he demanded more from those around him, coaching, talking, and preventing dangerous situations.

I thought Bouba and Wilf had a great partnership today, controlling the game both on and off the ball.”

Ndidi’s return is a huge boost for Leicester, but they must build on his influence if they are to turn their fortunes around.

While the FA Cup dream is over, their Premier League survival remains the priority, and Ndidi could be the key to making that happen.
