Rosario Central Secure Loan Deal for Alejo Veliz with Key Recall Clause Included
Over the past week, several reports from Argentina indicated that Rosario Central were intensifying their efforts to bring Alejo Veliz back to the club, two years after his departure to Tottenham Hotspur.
On Sunday, it was revealed that the president of Rosario Central had traveled to London to negotiate directly with Tottenham for Veliz’s return.
Both reports highlighted the striker’s strong desire to return to his former club, and it now seems that he has finally achieved that goal.
Tottenham and Rosario Central reach loan agreement for Veliz
According to an update from TyC Sports, Tottenham and Rosario Central have reached an agreement in principle for Veliz to rejoin the Argentine side on loan.
The report does not mention whether a loan fee is involved, but it does confirm that Rosario Central will not have a purchase option included in the deal.
Additionally, Tottenham have included a recall clause, allowing them to bring the 21-year-old striker back to North London at the end of the calendar year.
The structure of the deal suggests that Spurs are not ready to give up on Veliz despite his unconvincing loan spells at Espanyol and Sevilla. The club still appears hopeful he can develop into a valuable asset.
Veliz was determined to return home
The report from TyC also confirms that Racing Club and Boca Juniors made moves to sign Veliz this summer.
Boca boss Miguel Angel Russo, who previously coached Veliz at Rosario, even reached out personally to convince him to join the Buenos Aires giants.
Despite the interest from two of Argentina’s biggest clubs, Veliz had his heart firmly set on returning to Rosario Central.
His desire to play alongside Angel Di Maria and return to familiar surroundings played a significant role in his decision — and Tottenham ultimately granted his wish.
