“Set to Leave”: £70k-a-Week Everton Player Expected to Depart in Final Days of Transfer Window – Journalist

Despite being only two games into the new Premier League season, Everton’s glaring squad deficiencies are already evident.
Changes are needed, but manager Sean Dyche and director of football Kevin Thelwell find themselves in a challenging position, needing other transactions to occur before they can make their next move.
However, there might be some luck coming their way.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, who spoke exclusively to Everton.News, Mason Holgate is likely to leave the club by the end of the summer transfer window.
For many fans, this seemed inevitable, but concerns were raised that the club’s financial constraints might force Dyche to include Holgate in his plans for the season.
The decision to hand Roman Dixon his senior debut over Holgate, who earns £70,000 a week, on Saturday further supports Bailey’s claims.
Bailey stated, “I’d imagine we’d see someone like Mason Holgate go out. I’d expect Holgate to go.
Holgate, I think, is going to go. Obviously, there was that confusion at the weekend about him being booed, which wasn’t the player, it was the substitution. I expect him to go.”
Bailey also mentioned another player potentially on the way out: Neal Maupay. He added, “Maupay is one of them. He’s a squad player.
If he’s around, he’ll be in the squad. If someone wants him, then he can go. I think he might go. They don’t mind him massively.”
This information surfaced just before it was revealed that Maupay was in talks to leave Everton, suggesting these claims are credible.
Both Holgate and Maupay are part of a larger group of players who lack a long-term future at the club.
Dyche and Thelwell might also be considered part of this category, as both of their contracts are up next summer.
Michael Keane, who has been with Everton for seven years but never quite met expectations, is also out of contract next summer.
With Asmir Begovic’s arrival, Joao Virginia is expected to depart, although this represents a short-term strategy heavily reliant on Jordan Pickford.
Meanwhile, veterans Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman are also likely to leave next summer at 35 and 39 years old, respectively.
While the departure of these older players won’t significantly affect Everton’s budget, selling players like Keane, Holgate, and Maupay before the transfer window closes could provide the funds needed for new signings.
