Everton urged to make a move for Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović when his contract expires.
Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović looks increasingly likely to depart Juventus at the end of the current campaign, with a number of major European clubs already monitoring his situation ahead of a potential free transfer next summer.
The 24-year-old has been a consistent performer in Serie A, hitting double figures for league goals in each of the past three seasons, and his possible availability has naturally sparked interest across the continent.
Among the clubs linked with a move is Everton, who could look to take advantage of the situation if the opportunity arises.
The Toffees are expected to face stiff competition, however, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona all reportedly keen on signing the former Fiorentina frontman.
While Vlahović’s proven track record makes him an appealing prospect, his significant wage demands may prove a stumbling block, as even Juventus are believed to be struggling to meet his financial expectations.
Former Everton scout Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, encouraged the Merseyside club to keep a close eye on Vlahović’s situation: “He’s definitely worth a look.
He’s going to be a free transfer and is certainly a player Everton should be following at the very least.
They’ve currently got two contrasting forwards — Thierno Barry, who likes to run the channels, and Beto, a more traditional target man. They could really use another high-quality attacking option.”
That said, Everton’s striking issues are far more immediate. The team’s poor conversion rate has become a pressing concern, as they have scored just 10 goals from 10 Premier League matches this season.
According to Fotmob, their expected goals (xG) figure suggests they should have netted at least 13 times, meaning they are underperforming by over three goals.
Both Beto and Barry have struggled to deliver consistent output, and this inefficiency in front of goal is threatening to derail Everton’s campaign.
While a move for Vlahović next summer would undoubtedly represent a major coup, the club must address its attacking deficiencies well before then.
A fresh addition in January appears essential if David Moyes and his side are to find the firepower needed to turn their chances into points and avoid another season of frustration.
