Everton set their sights on ex-Leeds United defender as January transfer plans take shape.
David Moyes was unable to address all of Everton’s needs in the previous transfer window, leaving several areas still in need of reinforcement ahead of January.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed that Everton are keeping close tabs on Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell, who has been thriving since his move to France.
“Charlie Cresswell is doing very well in France, following an excellent showing at the Euros,” Bailey told Everton News.
“Everton are definitely in the market for defenders in 2026, and he’s one they’ve watched closely. He fits the kind of profile David Moyes admires — strong, disciplined, and still improving.”
Cresswell, who played a key role in England’s Under-21 European Championship triumph during the summer, has posted outstanding numbers in Ligue 1.
As per FBref data, the 23-year-old ranks among the top four per cent of defenders across Europe for aerial duels won per 90 minutes, underlining his dominance in the air.
He also sits in the top four per cent for non-penalty goals, reflecting his ability to contribute from set-pieces — a quality Moyes traditionally values in his centre-backs.
Defensively, his metrics are equally impressive, with his averages for blocks and clearances per 90 placing him in the top 11 per cent of players in his position.
Everton’s continued scouting of Cresswell suggests he could emerge as a serious target once the January transfer window opens.
