Crysencio Summerville picked up a knock during West Ham United’s FA Cup victory over Brentford FC on Monday.

Despite the injury, the winger was forced to play on after receiving treatment because head coach Nuno Espirito Santo had already used all of his substitutions late in the game.

The manager confirmed that Summerville would not be available for the upcoming match due to the knock he suffered in extra time against Brentford.

Although the winger had to continue playing after treatment, Nuno explained that the additional minutes did not worsen the injury.

The Portuguese coach stated that the club’s medical team will monitor Summerville closely over the coming days.

There is, however, a small positive for West Ham. Following their next league game against Aston Villa, the schedule pauses for the international break.

Summerville had initially been expected to join the Netherlands national football team during that period, but the break may now give him additional time to recover fully before the decisive final weeks of the campaign.

Since arriving at the London Stadium in the summer of 2024, Summerville initially needed time to adapt to life at the club.

His early performances were relatively quiet as he settled into the squad and adjusted to the team’s style of play.

However, his form has dramatically improved under Nuno’s management. The 24-year-old has become one of West Ham’s most influential attacking players, frequently driving the team forward with his pace, direct running, and ability to carry the ball over long distances.

Operating mainly from the left flank, Summerville constantly looks to receive possession and create opportunities for his teammates.

His speed and dribbling ability allow him to stretch opposing defenses and provide a constant attacking outlet.

West Ham currently sit level on points with Nottingham Forest, separated only by goal difference. Given their recent form, the Hammers are considered strong contenders to secure their place in the top flight.
