Everton have reportedly entered the chase to sign a Champions League goalscorer in January – a player who also happens to be admired by Erling Haaland.

Although Thierno Barry recently ended his goal drought, Everton are still expected to prioritise the addition of another forward during the upcoming transfer window.

Reports indicate that the club have been presented with the chance to bring in Evan Ferguson, should AS Roma decide to terminate his loan early.

The major uncertainty is whether Roma will actually send the Republic of Ireland international back to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The situation shifted quickly this week: Ferguson netted a brace against Celtic, and Brighton simultaneously confirmed that prospect Stefanos Tzimas has ruptured his ACL.

With Tzimas now out for the season, Brighton may be far less willing to recall Ferguson, while Roma could prefer to retain him given his improved form.

As the Ferguson situation grows increasingly complicated, Everton may refocus their efforts on another target: Bodo/Glimt winger Jens Petter Hauge, who is also attracting Premier League interest.

Everton join the hunt for Jens Petter Hauge

TeamTalk reports that Everton have entered the race to sign Hauge after completing a scouting assignment on the Norwegian attacker.

The 26-year-old has recaptured some of his best form since returning to his homeland, and he is now believed to be open to a Premier League move.

Everton are joined by Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Brighton in monitoring his progress.

Following his Champions League goal against Borussia Dortmund earlier this week, Hauge’s resurgence is clear to see – and it explains the long-standing admiration from Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.
