Russell Martin will be encouraged by Rangers’ recruitment progress at Ibrox, with eight new signings already secured this summer.

However, the club is still actively pursuing further attacking options, with Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi emerging as a target.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship. Despite failing to achieve promotion, Rak-Sakyi impressed with his performances, drawing attention from clubs both domestically and abroad.

Rangers are among those showing strong interest, and according to The Sun (print edition, pg. 58, July 27), the player is open to the move.

The report claims Rak-Sakyi “favours a switch” to Glasgow, and talks are currently ongoing between the two clubs.

While Crystal Palace are reportedly holding out for a fee in excess of £10 million, Rangers are aiming to strike a deal involving an initial loan agreement to bring the Englishman north of the border.

Despite the transfer activity so far, there’s still more to be done. Concerns were raised after Rangers’ recent 2-2 pre-season draw against Middlesbrough, highlighting that the squad is not yet at full strength.

The need for additional attacking reinforcements remains pressing, and other areas of the pitch also require further bolstering if Martin’s side are to start the campaign strongly.

Rangers open their Scottish Premiership season away to Motherwell on August 2, before facing Panathinaikos in the second round of Champions League qualifiers.

With such a busy and important start to the season ahead, finalising the squad quickly is a priority for the Light Blues.
