This is not because they expect to lose rising star Jarrad Branthwaite, but rather to strengthen squad depth and guard against any potential departures.

Hammond’s role will be central to this process. According to Bailey, he will be leading the charge on transfer business, working closely with Moyes but under a broader, European-style recruitment model championed by the Friedkins.

“He’s going to be a key figure in the club’s transfer dealings,” Bailey explained. “Hammond will be heading up recruitment alongside other members of the incoming group, even with Moyes involved.

It’s not going to be like Moyes’ previous spell at Everton where he had full control.

The Friedkins are adopting a more structured, collaborative approach.

I believe they’re already considering several centre-back options, and I don’t personally think Branthwaite is on his way out. Hammond will be doing his research and acting accordingly.”

Among the targets Everton have been linked with is David Hancko, as they look to reinforce a backline that has remained relatively solid this season.

With veteran defender Michael Keane expected to move on, bolstering depth will be just as crucial as raising the overall quality of the starting eleven.
