Tottenham Hotspur Linked with Move for Versatile Chelsea Defender as Summer Reinforcements Loom

Tottenham Hotspur’s season has underlined the pressing need for increased squad depth — not just in numbers but also in tactical versatility.
While bringing in reinforcements is crucial, players capable of performing in multiple roles, such as Archie Gray, offer manager Ange Postecoglou valuable flexibility.
This becomes particularly important during injury crises or when strategic adjustments are required mid-game.
Spurs are now reportedly monitoring another versatile option — Chelsea defender Renato Veiga — who fits this mold perfectly by being adept across the backline.

According to TBR Football, Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Veiga’s situation.
The 21-year-old, currently on loan at Juventus, is expected to return to Chelsea this summer, but his long-term future remains uncertain.
Although Spurs haven’t made a formal move yet, they are believed to be seriously interested. Chelsea, meanwhile, are satisfied with Veiga’s development during his loan spell.
There’s also a chance he could stay at Stamford Bridge, especially if Benoit Badiashile leaves in the summer — a move that would open up a spot on the left side of Chelsea’s defence, potentially giving Veiga a renewed opportunity at the club.
However, competition is brewing. Veiga had already made 18 appearances for Enzo Maresca’s side before his temporary switch to Italy.
Since joining Juventus in January, he has featured eight times, including in the Champions League.
Despite those appearances, Juventus are reportedly not looking to make the move permanent, as they’re exploring other defensive targets. That opens the door for potential suitors.
Tottenham, along with Brighton, are tracking the situation closely.
With Veiga’s future at Chelsea still up in the air, Spurs see a possible market opportunity to secure a talented, adaptable defender — the kind of player who could offer depth and strategic flexibility going into the new season.
