Gabriel Jesus has spoken candidly about his long-term ambition to return to boyhood club Palmeiras, although any exit from Arsenal appears far from imminent.

He also criticised the baseless nature of some of the reports surrounding his situation.

Mikel Arteta, meanwhile, reaffirmed his admiration for Jesus and his determination to keep the forward at the Emirates.

The Arsenal manager described Jesus as an unpredictable, energetic and fiercely competitive player who has endured a difficult few seasons due to recurring injuries.

Arteta believes Jesus’ hunger and determination will be invaluable as Arsenal navigate a campaign in which several forwards have faced long spells on the sidelines.

With players like Viktor out and Kai also missing months of action, Arteta stressed the importance of having options—and highlighted Jesus as a crucial one.

Before joining Manchester City, Jesus rose to prominence at Palmeiras, scoring 28 goals in 83 appearances and earning a £27 million switch to the Premier League.

During his time at City, he played a significant role in an era of dominance, helping the club lift four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and three Carabao Cups, while scoring 95 goals in 236 games across all competitions.
