Former Everton Chief Keith Wyness Claims New Stadium Will Generate Over £60 Million in Annual Revenue
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old former CEO of Goodison Park, who now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, explained that new revenue will help Everton address their “PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) issue” following last season’s two-point deductions.
Everton is nearing completion of their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, set to open in 2025.
The state-of-the-art facility, which has been under construction since August 2021, will have a capacity of 52,888 fans.
In addition to football matches, the stadium will host concerts and other non-sporting events to boost Everton’s revenue.
For the 2022-23 season, the club’s commercial revenue fell to £39 million, down from £50 million the previous year, a 23% drop.
Wyness believes the new stadium’s revenue will help resolve Everton’s PSR issues.
He also noted that further naming rights and sponsorship deals could push revenue past £60 million.
Speaking on the podcast, he said, “It’ll be around £50 million, potentially up to £60 million.
This is a significant revenue boost for the club, simply from moving into the new stadium.
It will greatly assist with the PSR issue, as seen at other clubs.
Additionally, the naming rights and sponsorship deals at the new stadium could further increase that figure.”
