West Ham United could still bring in a new forward before the upcoming transfer deadline, despite having a busy summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in an exclusive with GIVEMESPORT.
However, Romano noted that for West Ham to add any new players, they would first need to offload some of their current squad to create space and free up funds.
Julen Lopetegui, in his first summer at the club, has been active in the transfer market.
He has brought in players like Niclas Fullkrug, Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as West Ham aim for European competition qualification in the coming season.
West Ham United’s Pursuit of Attacking Reinforcements
West Ham’s long-term objective is to consistently qualify for European competitions, a goal reinforced by their 2022/23 Europa Conference League victory against Fiorentina, which ended a 43-year wait for a major trophy.
Despite the recent signing of former Borussia Dortmund striker Fullkrug, West Ham is still looking to enhance their attacking options.
They have shown interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, a player also being considered by Chelsea for a late move.
The 20-year-old Colombian striker has fallen out of favor under Villa manager Unai Emery and had earlier in the summer indicated a willingness to move to West Ham in search of more playing time.
However, Duran has remained at Villa Park amid uncertainty about his future and even scored his first goal of the season in a 2-1 victory over West Ham.
This development could complicate any potential move for him this summer.
Romano’s Insight on West Ham’s Transfer Plans
In an exclusive interview with GIVEMESPORT, Romano suggested that West Ham might explore the market for another forward before the window closes.
However, he emphasized that any further signings would likely depend on the club’s ability to sell some of their current players.
Romano stated, “If conditions are right and if they can get the outgoings done, I think it’s a possibility [to sign another forward].
It’s really important for West Ham now to sell players because they have had an exciting summer with many signings.
But it’s really, really important for them to sell players. That’s absolutely crucial. So, there will be a conversation about that and about potential options.”
West Ham’s Increased Efforts to Sign Carlos Soler
Additionally, Romano mentioned that West Ham is intensifying their efforts to sign Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain before the transfer window closes.
Soler is highly regarded by West Ham’s management team, including sporting director Tim Steidten and manager Lopetegui, and the player himself is interested in the move. However, it remains uncertain whether an agreement can be reached before the deadline.
The arrival of Joao Neves at PSG has made Soler surplus to requirements, which could boost West Ham’s chances of securing the former Valencia midfielder.
As the transfer window nears its end, West Ham’s transfer activity could hinge on their ability to manage both incoming and outgoing players, aiming to bolster their squad for a competitive season ahead.
