Shedeur Sanders Fires Back at PFF’s Joe Milton Diss

The 2024 Senior Bowl, a renowned platform for showcasing top NFL Draft prospects, unfolded on Sunday. Unfortunately, former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Joe Milton III faced a challenging day. Pro Football Focus (PFF) shed light on Milton’s struggles in a social media post, drawing criticism from Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Despite Milton being widely acknowledged for his impressive arm talent, his college career has often painted him as a raw player, leaning more towards athleticism than a traditional quarterback. In the Senior Bowl, Milton encountered difficulties, throwing two interceptions for the American Team in a 16-7 loss to the National Team.

Pro Football Focus College’s social media account shared one of Milton’s interceptions on Twitter/X, labeling the play as “The Joe Milton experience.” While Milton did have positive moments, completing 9-of-13 passes, the interceptions dominated the narrative surrounding his performance.

Shedeur Sanders, a Colorado quarterback who opted out of the 2024 NFL Draft to return to college next season, took issue with PFF’s caption. In response to their tweet, Sanders criticized, “I thought PFF College was to showcase college athletes not put them down.”

While there’s a valid argument that Pro Football Focus could have chosen a less critical caption, it is also fair to highlight both positive and negative aspects of a player’s performance during a game intended to identify talent for the NFL Draft class. The impact of this video on Milton’s draft stock remains uncertain, but according to Sanders, PFF’s approach isn’t helping Milton’s cause.
