Tottenham’s Summer Valuation of Cristian Romero Revealed Amid Defender’s Exit Hints

Unless you’ve been completely out of the loop recently, you’ll know that Atletico Madrid have shown strong interest in Argentine defender Cristian Romero.

Several reports claim Diego Simeone has already spoken with the Spurs vice-captain regarding a potential summer move to the Spanish capital.

Romero is reportedly open to the idea, and he recently added fuel to the speculation by stating he wants to “go to new places to keep growing,” also expressing a desire to experience La Liga.

How much will Spurs ask for Romero?

According to The Times, Romero appears to be setting the stage for his departure, judging by various media comments made throughout the season.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is expected to demand no less than £60 million for the 26-year-old, either from Atletico or any other interested club, aiming to secure a profit on the £42.5 million paid to Atalanta in 2022.

Interestingly, the report suggests that Spurs may have begun preparing for Romero’s potential exit back in January.

That’s when the club made a £70 million bid for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi—an offer that was rejected.

Will Tottenham return for Guehi?

Tottenham’s record-breaking offer for Guehi indicates the England international is seen as a top replacement option by the club’s recruitment staff.

The 24-year-old will enter the final year of his contract with Palace this June, making him a realistic summer target.

However, Spurs are not alone in their pursuit. Multiple outlets report that Liverpool, Chelsea, and Aston Villa are also in the running to sign Guehi, suggesting a fierce transfer battle could be ahead.

Romero’s future is still undecided, but Tottenham appear to be planning accordingly as speculation around his potential exit grows stronger.
