Sky Sports pundit criticizes Everton defender, claims Man Utd trio made him ‘look 90 years old’

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford delivered a standout performance in Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Everton, leaving defender James Tarkowski looking “about 90 years old,” according to Sky Sports pundit Dean Ashton.

Rashford scored his first goal just after the half-hour mark and doubled his tally only 20 seconds into the second half.

Latching onto Amad Diallo’s through ball, he ran across Tarkowski and coolly slotted it home.

Ashton criticized Everton’s defensive display in the build-up to United’s third goal, describing it as “pitiful” and singling out Tarkowski:

“Everton’s defending is just pitiful for the third goal. Zirkzee was clever with his pass to Amad. Tarkowski looked about 90 years old, letting Rashford run across him.

It’s the easiest goal Manchester United will ever create and score.”

Rashford’s second goal was recorded as the fastest second-half strike for United since Opta began tracking such stats in the 2006-07 season.

The England forward also scored twice in a Premier League match for the first time since February 2023, when he achieved the feat against Leicester City.

Since Ruben Amorim’s arrival as manager, Rashford has been in excellent form, scoring in back-to-back league games and netting three goals.

This matches his total from his previous 23 appearances under Ruud van Nistelrooy and Erik ten Hag.

United’s emphatic win lifted them to ninth in the league, while Everton remained 15th, extending their goal drought to four matches.

The Toffees haven’t scored since their 1-0 victory over Fulham on October 26, increasing pressure on manager Sean Dyche.

Everton’s upcoming fixtures in December are daunting, with games against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City following their home clash with Wolves.

Meanwhile, Manchester United prepare for a challenging trip to Arsenal at the Emirates.

Rashford will look to replicate his success from their last visit in September 2023, where he scored in a match that ended in a 3-1 victory for the Gunners.
