“SHOCKING Newcastle United Bombshell: PIF Set to Splash Millions on ‘UNBELIEVABLE’ Joelinton Upgrade!”

Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a midfield signing this summer, though any new arrival would hinge on player departures.

Speculation surrounds the futures of Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock, both of whom have been linked with moves away from St James’ Park.

However, TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has revealed to Geordie Boot Boys that Joelinton could also be set for an exit.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has drawn interest from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, who, like Newcastle, are owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

A move for the £40 million-rated midfielder would likely draw scrutiny from Premier League rivals due to the shared ownership.

In the event of Joelinton’s departure, Newcastle are reportedly considering Atalanta’s Ederson as a potential replacement. Bailey explained: “There is Saudi interest in Joelinton.

The opportunity for Newcastle to sell and receive a significant fee makes a lot of sense, especially if they’re pursuing alternatives.

“I’m told Ederson at Atalanta is someone they are looking at—not a like-for-like replacement, but someone who could slot into the midfield three.

If you can profit from Joelinton’s sale and bring in Ederson, you’re strengthening the midfield while easing financial constraints. It makes sense.”

Newcastle have held long-standing interest in Ederson. The 25-year-old Brazilian was on the club’s radar during the January 2024 transfer window, when the squad was depleted due to injuries to Joelinton, Joe Willock, and Elliot Anderson, along with Sandro Tonali’s suspension.

While Kalvin Phillips was also considered, Ederson was viewed as the more exciting option.

Although Ederson was reportedly open to a move to Tyneside, Newcastle’s inability to navigate Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) meant no transfers occurred that month, disappointing fans.

Since then, Ederson has continued to impress, playing a key role in Atalanta’s 2024 Europa League triumph.

His standout performance in the final against Bayer Leverkusen even earned praise from former England international Owen Hargreaves, who called him“amazing.”
