Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is believed to be a big admirer of one of Aston Villa’s standout midfielders, and reports suggest Spurs are ready to offer him a significant opportunity that could lure him to north London.

The Lilywhites are closing in on their second major signing of the summer transfer window. Following the completion of a permanent deal for Mathys Tel, Tottenham are now poised to secure the services of J League talent Kota Takai.

According to Luca Bendoni of Sky Italia, the 20-year-old central defender is expected to undergo a medical at Hotspur Way next week, signaling the final stages of the transfer process.

Takai, a highly-rated young player, was recommended by Spurs technical director Johan Lange.

Brown added: “What I’ve heard is that Spurs are willing to give him more starts than he’s currently getting at Villa. If that’s the case, I think he would seriously consider the move.

“He’s had some doubts about his role at Villa—whether he’ll be a consistent part of the starting XI. A fresh challenge at Tottenham could provide a new environment and direction.

The uncertainty surrounding his future at Villa opens a door for Spurs, especially with Frank being such a fan of his. He’s someone the club has had on their radar for quite some time.”

Ramsey, 24, has already racked up 167 senior appearances for Aston Villa. He combines youth and experience, offering versatility and composure in midfield.
