In the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke reported that West Ham United will need to offload players before reinforcing the squad.
This move comes as the club aims to maintain financial stability and avoid breaching financial regulations.
Several players have been identified as potential departures due to being deemed surplus to requirements.
Among them are Guido Rodriguez, Niclas Fullkrug, Emerson Palmieri, Maxwel Cornet, and Michail Antonio.
In addition, Danny Ings, Vladimir Coufal, Aaron Cresswell, and Lukasz Fabianski are expected to leave once their contracts expire.
Meanwhile, Carlos Soler is set to return to Paris Saint-Germain, as his loan stint has failed to meet expectations.
Despite West Ham having a £17 million option to make the move permanent, Football Insider reported on 6 April that the club is unlikely to exercise it.
These exits will free up a significant portion of the wage budget, paving the way for new arrivals who align more closely with manager Graham Potter’s playing philosophy.
West Ham are no strangers to lavish summer spending, having invested over £100 million under Julen Lopetegui’s tenure last year.
However, a disappointing season — which will see the club miss out on European qualification — has diminished their available funds.
This could influence Potter’s ability to make signings unless the club raises money through player sales.
To avoid potential breaches of profit and sustainability rules — which recently led to points deductions for Everton and Nottingham Forest — West Ham are actively planning to offload several senior players.
Similar cost-cutting measures have previously been implemented by Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Newcastle to remain compliant.
Despite the financial challenges, the club remains committed to supporting Potter by assembling a squad that better reflects his tactical preferences.
Amid the looming squad shake-up, speculation is also growing around Jarrod Bowen’s future.
On 5 April, Football Insider reported that Liverpool have identified Bowen as a possible alternative to their primary target, Alexander Isak.
The winger has long been admired by the Merseyside club, with interest dating back to January 2022.
However, according to former West Ham scout Mick Brown, Bowen is not looking to leave the London club.
West Ham, for their part, are equally reluctant to sell the 27-year-old attacker, despite growing outside interest.
