Jakub Stolarczyk’s future central to Leicester City’s potential summer squad revamp.

Jakub Stolarczyk is growing in confidence and providing Leicester City with reassurance as they prepare for a potential shake-up in their goalkeeping department this summer.

The young Polish goalkeeper delivered his most impressive Premier League performance yet, playing a key role in City’s much-needed victory, which lifted them out of the relegation zone.

His efforts didn’t go unnoticed, as Alan Shearer named him in the official Premier League Team of the Week, a testament to his impact between the posts.

With Mads Hermansen nearing a return from injury, this period is crucial for both Stolarczyk and the club.

It offers him the chance to demonstrate his ability at the top level while allowing Leicester to evaluate his short-term reliability and long-term potential as a Premier League goalkeeper.

Reflecting on the win over Tottenham, Stolarczyk spoke of how much the experience has boosted his confidence. “It gives me a lot of confidence,” he told the club’s media.

“I’m there to help the team and my team-mates. I’m glad I could help us out.

“The most important thing was securing the three points. We stuck together through a tough second half and showed we can defend as a team.

“That’s what dreams are made of—being in the Premier League Team of the Week. It’s a great feeling and gives you even more confidence.”

Despite Leicester currently having four senior goalkeepers, Stolarczyk could find himself as the only one remaining at the club by the start of next season.

Both Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen are out of contract in the summer, while Hermansen’s impressive performances have attracted interest from other clubs.

The Danish shot-stopper has been one of the standout performers in the league this season.

Statistics show that, based on the quality of shots he has faced, he has conceded six fewer goals than the average goalkeeper would be expected to—making him the best in the Premier League in this regard.

In comparison, Bournemouth’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, on loan from Chelsea, has prevented three more goals than expected, placing him second.

Leicester manager Enzo Maresca is already well aware of Hermansen’s quality, and Chelsea, who were linked with him last summer, are expected to reignite their interest.

The London club’s current number one, Robert Sanchez, has struggled, ranking only mid-table in save percentage while also making the most errors leading to goals in the division.

Speaking about Sanchez’s struggles, Maresca addressed the situation over the weekend.

“For sure, he is completely aware that he has to do better,” Maresca said. “He knew it after the game against Manchester City.

He knows perfectly well. The good thing is that he is the first to recognize his mistakes.

“We trust Robert, but at the same time, he knows he has to improve. We have an entire week to assess the situation, see his reaction, and make a decision for the upcoming games.”
