West Ham United’s Under-18 side secured an impressive win over reigning champions Aston Villa on Saturday, while Mark Robson’s Under-21s continue to impress, finishing fourth in the Premier League 2 standings.

The latest came on Tuesday, as promising centre-back Ezra Mayers signed a new deal running until the summer of 2028, with an option for a further year.

Academy Manager Kenny Brown praised the young defender’s commitment and potential.

Mayers played a key role in last season’s Premier League U18 Cup final, assisting one of Josh Ajala’s two goals in the victory over Reading.

The 18-year-old has since progressed to the Under-21 squad and was also named the 2024 winner of the prestigious Dylan Tombides Award, joining notable past recipients such as Josh Cullen, Reece Oxford, and Declan Rice.

Brown described Mayers as a model professional who is constantly striving to improve, expressing confidence that the young defender could one day make his mark in the West Ham first team.
