Newcastle United Face Key Decisions This Summer.

Newcastle United Face Crucial Decision on Callum Wilson’s Future
After a period of limited spending, Eddie Howe has largely relied on his current squad. However, things could soon change.
Newcastle believe they are in a strong financial position for the summer, having raised funds through player sales while avoiding major investments in new signings.
That said, Howe may not need to overhaul his squad entirely.
The club appears prepared to retain some players who might otherwise leave. Fabian Schär could receive a new contract before his current deal expires at the end of the season, while talks are underway with Emil Krafth regarding an extension.
Now, discussions have also begun about Callum Wilson’s future.
Newcastle United in Talks Over Wilson’s Future

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have held preliminary talks about the striker’s situation.
Howe has praised Wilson as an “outstanding” player, and when fit, few doubt his goal-scoring ability. However, expecting the England international to suddenly maintain full fitness seems unrealistic.
Wilson was initially expected to leave when his contract expires this summer, but there remains a possibility he could stay. As of now, no agreement has been reached, meaning he is still set to depart.
A Tough Decision Looms
Wilson’s Newcastle career has been marred by injuries, making his time at the club frustrating for both him and the fans.
It would be optimistic—perhaps even unrealistic—to assume those issues will suddenly disappear.
Yet, replacing him is no straightforward task. Even if Newcastle spend on a new striker, there’s no certainty they will find someone as prolific as the 32-year-old.
Wilson is already free to negotiate with foreign clubs, and with his future uncertain, Newcastle must make a decision soon. Whether he stays or goes, it remains a gamble.
