Scott Minto Thrilled by West Ham’s Potential Signing of ‘Outstanding’ Player to Pair with Kilman
Julen Lopetegui is ushering in a new era for West Ham, following David Moyes’ departure. Moyes left as a club legend after winning the Europa Conference League, but his last two Premier League seasons were disappointing, with a 14th and 9th place finish.
The defensive style of play was ineffective, as West Ham conceded 74 goals, a tally only surpassed by relegated teams Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United.
To address their defensive issues, West Ham signed Max Kilman from Wolves, a move praised by Scott Minto, who called Kilman a “really good” player on talkSPORT (21/07/24 at 4:20 pm). However, the question remains who will partner Kilman in central defense, as the club seeks to improve its quality.
One potential partner for Kilman is former Chelsea center-back Fikayo Tomori, who currently plays for AC Milan. Minto expressed excitement at the prospect of Tomori joining West Ham, envisioning a strong defensive pairing with Kilman.
“Max Kilman is a player I like; he has gone to one of my former clubs, West Ham,” said Minto. “I think he will be really good. There has been talk about Fikayo Tomori, perhaps, being linked there. If they got those two playing together, and a center-forward, then, for me, West Ham would be very, very good going forward.”
At 26, Tomori, who has a Serie A title to his name, would be a smart acquisition for the Hammers. Despite being somewhat forgotten in England, his talent is recognized, with Frank Lampard previously calling him an “outstanding” player (Metro).
If West Ham can secure Tomori’s signature, it would significantly bolster their defense and enhance their prospects for the upcoming season.
