Everton eye January move for James Ward-Prowse in possible reunion with David Moyes

According to TEAMtalk, Everton have now been linked with West Ham United’s James Ward-Prowse.
Transfer insider Dean Jones claims that Moyes’ side will “look at the possibility” of signing the England international in January.
West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo reportedly wants to offload Ward-Prowse, and Moyes could be ready to take advantage of the situation.
Moyes knows the 31-year-old well, having signed him for West Ham in 2023. Ward-Prowse scored seven Premier League goals in his only season under Moyes and thrived in his system.
However, his form has dipped since Moyes’ departure, and a reunion could help revive his career.
While some Everton fans might question a move for a player in his thirties, Moyes’ familiarity with Ward-Prowse’s strengths could make it a smart short-term addition.
The respect between the two is mutual. During his time at West Ham, Moyes publicly praised Ward-Prowse, comparing his professionalism and character to that of Declan Rice.
Speaking to the London Evening Standard in 2023, Moyes said: “I think his character is very similar to Declan Rice.
He’s a really good boy, and everyone knows about his delivery, his assists, and what he’s capable of.”
Ward-Prowse, in turn, spoke highly of Moyes, telling BBC Sport in 2024 that the Scot had done an “incredible job” and that he “thoroughly enjoyed working with him.”
If Everton follow up their interest, Ward-Prowse would likely welcome the chance to reunite with Moyes—especially as his playing time at West Ham continues to dwindle.
