Rafa Benitez’s costly Everton mistake could finally be corrected by David Moyes.

Everton revived their interest in Dumfries during 2023, and with his latest admission, the door is open for a third approach. If the Toffees are serious, now might be the perfect time.
Realistically, Dumfries is more likely to join a club in European competition, but Everton’s current progress could make that less far-fetched.
Should the team continue their strong start, a surprise qualification for Europe next season is not beyond reach.
That prospect, alongside the allure of the new Hill Dickinson Stadium project, could tempt the Dutchman into considering Goodison Park’s successors as his next destination.
Rio Ferdinand once described Dumfries as “dangerous” at the 2022 World Cup, praising his cutbacks and attacking threat from right-back.
Such qualities are exactly what Everton have lacked, and Moyes remains keen to reinforce that position.
By this time next year, the Toffees may find themselves preparing for European football with an exciting squad, and if all falls into place, Dumfries might finally be convinced to become part of Everton’s long-term revival.
