Adding to the frustration, Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that another possible avenue for Aguerd’s exit has closed.

Real Sociedad, who had Aguerd on loan during the latter part of last season, have officially moved in a different direction.

They are close to sealing a deal with Brighton for Brazilian defender Igor Julio, meaning the door has firmly shut on any chance of Aguerd returning to the La Liga club—despite brief rumours of a possible U-turn.

Aguerd’s short time in San Sebastian was marred by injuries, limiting him to just one appearance between early April and the end of May.
