Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumaré attracting interest from Sevilla and several other clubs
Boubakary Soumaré, whose contract with Leicester City runs until the end of this season, spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Sevilla.
The Spanish side are keen to bring him back, and despite interest from other clubs, reports suggest the French midfielder favours a return to Andalusia.
According to Estadio Deportivo, the situation has recently shifted, and Sevilla may reconsider their timing for a potential move.
Soumaré has featured in 11 matches for Leicester this season, totalling 787 minutes, but his playing time has diminished in recent weeks.
He made his first start since September 26th in Tuesday’s match, after being sidelined by new manager Martí Cifuentes’ selection choices.
Leicester are reportedly open to selling the 26-year-old in January to avoid losing him for free next summer, a possibility that has “gained momentum in recent weeks.”
Any potential sale, however, would likely be for less than his current €12 million valuation.
Despite Sevilla’s continued interest, the club may struggle to complete a January deal due to financial constraints.
Soumaré’s annual salary of €5 million, combined with a potential transfer fee, poses a significant challenge for the La Liga side.
Initially, Sevilla hoped to secure him on a free transfer at the end of the season, but with other clubs monitoring the situation, there are growing fears that another team could swoop in before they can finalise an agreement.
