According to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown—who remains deeply connected within football—David Moyes is highly interested in signing 22-year-old Liam Delap this summer.

In an exclusive conversation with Football Insider, Brown revealed that Moyes “would love” to bring the young striker on board.

Despite interest from top Premier League clubs such as Man United, Chelsea, and Newcastle, Everton are ready to do whatever it takes to secure Delap’s signature.

Moyes himself addressed the speculation ahead of a clash with Ipswich, stating via the Liverpool Echo, “He would be one who we would certainly have an interest in.

We would certainly be interested if he was interested in us.”

Brown previously told Football Insider that Manchester United currently lead the race for Delap, ahead of their Premier League rivals.

However, Everton hope to lure the striker by offering a key role in their squad and positioning him as a central figure in their long-term plans—especially with their upcoming move to the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

Football Insider first reported in February that both United and Chelsea were keen on Delap, with a number of elite clubs monitoring his development.

Brown, who worked closely with Moyes during their time at West Ham and spent more than a decade in senior recruitment roles, believes Everton will go all-out to compete with these heavyweights.

“There is no shortage of interest in Delap,” Brown confirmed. “Man United are currently favourites because they have issues up front and he’s likely to get minutes there.

But I can also see him choosing Everton for similar reasons. He’d be a headline signing and would play a more prominent role in their team.”

Brown added that while Everton aren’t frontrunners due to competition from more prestigious clubs, they are actively engaging with Delap’s representatives in hopes of swaying his decision.

“They’re speaking with him and doing everything they can to present themselves as the right move,” he said.

“He’d be more central to Everton than he would be at United or Chelsea.”

Describing Delap’s playing style, Brown noted: “He’s honest, hard-working, very capable, not afraid of physical play, and has real potential. That’s why he’s on so many clubs’ radars—and why he’d fit in well under Moyes.”

In addition to targeting Delap, Everton are also aiming to strengthen their midfield this summer.

Moyes is eyeing Burnley’s Josh Brownhill, according to a Football Insider report dated May 5.

The 29-year-old midfielder will be out of contract in June, and although Burnley secured promotion to the Premier League, no final decision has been made on his future at Turf Moor.

Meanwhile, Everton could soon face a midfield vacancy. On April 29, Football Insider reported that Abdoulaye Doucoure may leave the club during the upcoming window, which would intensify their need for reinforcements in that area.
