Parker is currently managing Burnley, whom he guided to promotion back to the Premier League last season.

 

Before that, he spent a brief period in charge of Club Brugge, preceded by a year at Bournemouth, where he also secured promotion.

 

His first managerial role came at Fulham, where he spent over two years and successfully took them up to the top flight.

In short, Parker has built a portfolio that demonstrates his ability to work within English football’s demanding environment, both in the Championship and the Premier League.

 

His managerial career so far shows resilience, adaptability, and a knack for getting teams promoted.

 

Bilic, by contrast, has been far removed from the Premier League for some time. His last spell in England’s top division ended in December 2020, when West Bromwich Albion dismissed him. Since then, his managerial journey has taken him abroad.

 

He managed Beijing Guoan in China for a year, endured a short stint at Watford, and most recently oversaw Saudi Pro League side Al-Fateh between July 2023 and August 2024.

 

None of these appointments brought lasting success, and his reputation as a top-flight manager has diminished.

That difference in recent experience is telling. While Bilic has been away from the sharp end of Premier League football for nearly five years, Parker remains immersed in it, with tangible results to show.

 

Burnley’s promotion under his guidance was particularly impressive, and the team continues to perform competitively this season.

 

Ultimately, while Bilic retains a degree of affection among West Ham fans, the reality is that he has not enjoyed a sustained spell of success for quite some time.

Parker, on the other hand, has shown he can adapt and achieve results in the current climate.

 

For West Ham, who desperately need stability and momentum, Parker looks the more logical and progressive choice.

 

If the Hammers are determined to act swiftly, he could well prove to be the better appointment.
