West Ham United finally have reason for optimism in what has been a turbulent Premier League season.
The Hammers have collected 10 points from their last five league outings, including an impressive draw against in-form Manchester United.
That recent upturn in results has moved them to within three points of climbing out of the relegation zone, offering renewed belief that survival is achievable.
In contrast, relegation rivals Nottingham Forest remain in disarray. Forest have now dismissed their third manager of the campaign, parting ways with Sean Dyche as they continue to slide.
The instability elsewhere has given West Ham an opportunity to capitalise—but fresh concerns are emerging off the pitch.
According to former West Ham scout Mick Brown, the club could struggle to retain its standout performers if relegation becomes a reality.
One player in particular attracting attention is Crysencio Summerville.
The 24-year-old winger, labelled “outstanding” by Alan Shearer, has been in superb form, netting four goals in his last five Premier League appearances.
His recent displays have not gone unnoticed, with several top-flight clubs monitoring his progress.
Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly interested during the January transfer window but saw their approach turned away.
Brown warned that the situation could change dramatically if West Ham drop into the Championship.
“If West Ham go down, they’ll face huge problems keeping their best players,” he explained.
“Top talents want Premier League football and the wages that come with it. Summerville has proven he can perform at this level, so interest is inevitable.”
He added that should relegation occur, the club may have little choice but to consider serious offers.
While West Ham’s improved form has revived hopes of survival, the possibility of losing one of their brightest stars remains a looming concern.
