Expert: Leicester may soon decide on Van Nistelrooy’s future

According to former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, pressure is mounting on Leicester City’s manager as the club struggles at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Brown revealed that doubts over the boss’s future are growing as Leicester’s poor form continues.

The Foxes fell into the relegation zone after a crushing 4-0 defeat to Everton, while fellow relegation contenders Wolves secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Despite Leicester’s struggles, frustration among fans has been directed more at the board than the manager, largely due to a lack of investment in the transfer market, as reported by Football Insider.

Concerns have also been raised about the overall quality of Leicester’s squad, particularly their defensive vulnerabilities.

Many question whether the players are capable of keeping the team in the Premier League.

However, Brown explained that, ultimately, the manager is the one who will take the fall for the team’s struggles.

Leicester have managed just one win in their last ten league matches, conceding 24 goals during that period—including four in their latest loss to Everton.

With their defensive issues unresolved and results not improving, speculation over the manager’s future is intensifying.

Leicester Could Sack Ruud van Nistelrooy Amid Fresh Concerns

Brown previously told Football Insider that Van Nistelrooy, appointed earlier in the season, could struggle to turn Leicester’s fortunes around due to the squad’s limitations.

Brown, who played a key role in bringing Van Nistelrooy to Manchester United in 2001 and has extensive experience working with top-level managers, insists the players deserve just as much blame as the manager.

“He’s going to come under a lot of pressure,” Brown told Football Insider.

“If you’re near the bottom and keep losing, pressure builds quickly.

“When I look at Leicester’s squad, I never believed they had enough quality to survive in the Premier League.

“Their biggest weakness is at the back—they simply don’t have defenders up to the required standard.

“That’s not something Ruud can fix overnight, but ultimately, fingers always get pointed at the manager.

“There has to be someone to blame, but what about the players? Are they performing at their best?

“The manager gets sacked, and people think that solves everything, but these same players are the ones who put the club in this position.

“It’s always been the case—when you start losing, especially in a relegation battle, the pressure becomes unbearable. More often than not, the club pulls the trigger.

“The big question is whether Leicester will stick with him if they go down or bring in someone new in a last-ditch effort to stay up.

“We’ve seen it before—Leeds tried it, and they were relegated. Leicester did the same last season.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they let him go before the season ends.”

With Leicester’s survival hopes fading, the club now faces a crucial decision on whether to stand by Van Nistelrooy or make a change before it’s too late.
