Leeds United Consider Conrad Harder as Daniel Farke Seeks Attacking Reinforcement

Daniel Farke remains determined to strengthen Leeds United’s attacking options before the summer transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday, September 1.

With time running out, the club have identified RB Leipzig forward Conrad Harder as a potential option.

The 21-year-old Danish striker has reportedly caught Leeds’ attention as they continue to search for another attacking addition.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Philipp Hinze, the Whites could wait until deadline day to complete a deal for Harder if necessary.

Hinze revealed on Friday that Leeds are not the only club monitoring the former Sporting CP forward, with Galatasaray and Lazio also understood to be interested.

Harder was recently on the scoresheet for Leipzig during their emphatic 6-0 German Cup victory over Eintracht Trier, giving him some positive momentum heading into the final days of the window.

Leeds currently view Harder as an “alternative option” rather than their primary attacking target.

Nevertheless, their chances of signing him could increase significantly if they decide to make a formal approach before the deadline.

One factor working in Leeds’ favour is Leipzig’s reported willingness to consider both a permanent transfer and a loan agreement.

The Bundesliga club signed Harder from Sporting CP last year for a fee of around £20 million, meaning they are likely to want a significant portion of that investment back if they agree to sell him permanently.

However, Leeds could have an opportunity to negotiate a much lower fee based on the striker’s limited impact since moving to Germany.

Harder has managed just four goals in 33 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig.

His first season in the Bundesliga was also underwhelming, with the youngster making only eight league starts.

Despite those statistics, Harder’s age means there is plenty of time for him to develop and fulfil his potential.

Leeds could therefore view him as a player capable of improving with regular Premier League football.

If the Whites make a low offer, Leipzig could face a difficult decision.

Should Harder push for a move, the German club may have to choose between accepting a reduced fee and cutting their losses or keeping the young striker and hoping he can deliver greater value during the upcoming Bundesliga campaign.
