Opinion: First-Team Star Likely Anxious About Future Following Everton Transfer Rumors

Orel Mangala’s Everton Future in Doubt Amid Links to Juventus Playmaker Arthur Melo

The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with a move to Merseyside since the summer, and with the January transfer window approaching, speculation has reignited.

Mangala, signed during the summer, has struggled to impress for both club and country.

Considering Lyon’s financial struggles, it seems unlikely his stay at Everton will become permanent.

This is particularly relevant as Thiago Motta appears ready to part ways with Arthur Melo, who hasn’t played a single minute for Juventus this season, according to Diario Sport (14 November).

Why Everton Should Sign Arthur Melo from Juventus

Despite not featuring for Motta’s team this season, Arthur’s performances for Fiorentina in 2023/24 demonstrate his ability to perform at a high level.

The former Liverpool player contributed six goals last season while operating as a defensive midfielder, showcasing his versatility and quality.

Everton’s midfield options are currently limited. While Mangala and Tim Iroegbunam were brought in to bolster the squad, Iroegbunam’s long-term injury has left manager Sean Dyche short of options.

Additionally, Mangala has yet to adapt fully to life at Everton, leaving the midfield in need of reinforcements.

Arthur’s arrival could inject creativity into the team, reducing the pressure on Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye, who have been Everton’s primary creative outlets this season.

His technical ability and experience would provide a much-needed boost to the squad’s attacking potential.

Moreover, Juventus’s willingness to sell Arthur could make him available at a reduced fee, aligning with Everton’s budget and making the move an attractive prospect.

By signing Arthur, Everton could address their midfield deficiencies and enhance their chances of success in the second half of the season.
