“Sources: Leicester City Pursue Signing of Striker from Premier League Giants”

In the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke highlighted that Chelsea’s current squad size is unsustainable for the upcoming season.

Manager Enzo Maresca plans to offload fringe players to streamline the team before the 31st August deadline, with David Fofana likely to be among those moved.

Leicester City has shown interest in the Ivory Coast international, though other Premier League and European clubs are also monitoring his situation.

Chelsea is open to selling Fofana during this transfer window, provided they receive an acceptable offer.

Despite being under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2029, the Premier League club is willing to cut their losses with the 21-year-old striker.

Since joining Chelsea in 2023, Fofana has struggled to secure regular first-team action, making only four appearances without scoring a goal.

Last season, Fofana had two loan spells, first with Molde and then with Burnley.

During his time at Turf Moor, he demonstrated his potential by scoring four goals in 15 Premier League appearances under Vincent Kompany.

Fofana is not the only player expected to leave Chelsea this summer, as the club is also looking to sell two academy graduates following Conor Gallagher’s departure.

Chelsea’s focus on trimming the squad reflects their intent to manage a more balanced and competitive team for the upcoming season.
