Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a surprise move in the transfer market by lodging an enquiry for an “insane” striker earning £105,000 per week, with the player actively pushing to leave his current club before the end of the month.
Despite already possessing several attacking options, Spurs are continuing to explore reinforcements up front.
Dominic Solanke has spent the vast majority of the campaign sidelined with an ankle injury, but the England international marked his return in emphatic fashion by scoring in a 2-0 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund.
His comeback has eased some concerns, yet questions remain over Tottenham’s long-term attacking depth.
Thomas Frank currently has Richarlison, Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel at his disposal.
However, Tel is now agitating for a January exit after being excluded from the club’s Champions League squad, while Kolo Muani has yet to truly settle following his loan move from Paris Saint-Germain.
The French forward is still searching for his first Premier League goal, prompting doubts over his suitability as a consistent solution in front of goal.
As a result, Spurs have been assessing the market and identifying alternative striking options.
Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic and Manchester City attacker Omar Marmoush have both been mentioned as possible targets.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, Spurs have taken an unexpected step by joining the chase for Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee.
The north London club are said to have submitted a shock enquiry regarding a potential deal for the Dutch international, who is eager to secure a move away from Old Trafford during the current window.
Zirkzee is reportedly keen to leave Manchester United, although the club have so far been unwilling to approve his departure.
United previously placed a £35 million valuation on the striker last month, which has complicated negotiations.
Nevertheless, the 24-year-old is hopeful that United may relax their stance before the February 2 deadline.
If a move does become possible, Zirkzee is unlikely to be short of interest. Crystal Palace, Juventus and Roma have all been credited with monitoring his situation closely.
While scout Ben Mattinson has praised Zirkzee’s “insane” talent, a potential move to Tottenham would carry an element of risk.
The former Bayern Munich striker has struggled to make a lasting impression since arriving at United, and his overall goal record has been underwhelming.
Although he has found regular starts hard to come by, his average of 0.37 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes in the Premier League still ranks him second in United’s squad, behind only Bryan Mbeumo.
