Spurs Hold Transfer Discussions with Bournemouth Starlet

With growing speculation that Cristian Romero could leave Tottenham this summer, it’s no surprise that the club is being linked with high-profile centre-backs ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

One name consistently on Spurs’ radar is Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen.

The 19-year-old, who joined from Juventus last summer, has enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League, attracting attention from several top clubs across Europe.

Tottenham’s admiration for Huijsen is well-documented, but they’re far from alone in their interest.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, multiple Premier League heavyweights have already contacted the young defender’s representatives.

Speaking on the Ask Ornstein blog, the journalist named Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle as clubs that, like Spurs, have expressed interest in Huijsen.

However, he clarified that while discussions have taken place, none of these clubs have yet submitted a formal offer.

“I understand Liverpool are firmly interested in Dean Huijsen. That’s been reported elsewhere and is accurate,” Ornstein said.

“Chelsea and Arsenal have also made inquiries. Those three appear to be the frontrunners, but Newcastle and Tottenham are still in the mix.

All of these clubs have been in contact with his camp recently, but no offers have been made, so it’s still unclear which direction things will take.”

Despite interest from abroad, particularly from European giants like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Huijsen may remain in England.

Ornstein confirmed that the Spanish club has long appealed to Huijsen, but currently, no concrete steps have been taken by them.

“Real Madrid have been an attractive option for Huijsen since his youth, and while they do rate him, I’m not aware of any active pursuit.

At this point, a move to another Premier League club seems the most likely outcome,” he explained.

He also noted that both Bournemouth and Huijsen want the matter resolved swiftly.

The player’s £50 million release clause could make negotiations straightforward, which may allow one of his suitors to act quickly—something Liverpool has capitalised on in the past.

With several clubs circling and Romero’s future at Spurs in doubt, the battle for Huijsen could become one of the summer’s standout transfer sagas.

Tottenham may need to move decisively if they hope to secure the highly-rated teenager ahead of their domestic and European rivals.
