Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering recalling Mikey Moore from his Rangers loan in January.
The highly rated academy graduate spent last season on the fringes of Ange Postecoglou’s squad, making 19 appearances across all competitions.
He also featured in pre-season under new Spurs manager Thomas Frank before being sent on loan to Rangers in early August.
At Ibrox, the 18-year-old has been handed five starts in seven outings for Russell Martin’s side, including Thursday’s Europa League clash with Genk, where he was substituted at half-time after Mohamed Diomande’s red card late in the first half.
Tottenham weighing up Moore recall
According to Football Insider, the England Under-19 international is reportedly unhappy with his role in Glasgow.
Moore has been used on both wings, though Martin has instructed him to drift inside rather than remain out wide, which some believe has limited his impact.
As a result, Spurs could trigger their option to recall him in the January transfer window. Should that happen, the North London club would likely seek another loan destination for the second half of the campaign, ideally where Moore can play in his natural role.
Martin’s future could affect Moore
Tottenham are expected to closely monitor developments at Rangers before making a decision.
Moore’s prospects could change if there is movement in the dugout, with Martin already under pressure following a disappointing start to the season.
Since taking charge, Martin has collected four wins, five draws, and five defeats from 14 matches.
That form has left Rangers sitting 11th in the Scottish Premiership, with only four points from their opening five league fixtures – their worst start in decades.
The under-fire manager will hope to ease some of the scrutiny by chasing a first league victory in Sunday’s trip to Livingston.
However, continued poor results could leave Moore’s situation unchanged, strengthening the case for Tottenham to intervene in January.
