Tottenham Eye £61m Deal for Zabarnyi After Kudus Signing

Tottenham Hotspur have already made a major splash in the summer transfer market by securing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55m.

The Ghanaian forward registered just five goals and three assists in the Premier League last season, a drop from his 14 goals and six assists across all competitions in his debut campaign.

While talented, Kudus will need to find consistency to meet expectations under Thomas Frank.

Despite this high-profile addition, Spurs are now turning their attention to strengthening their defence.

According to Caught Offside, the North London club are in talks to sign Bournemouth centre-back Illya Zabarnyi and are reportedly prepared to meet his £61m valuation.

Zabarnyi, 22, impressed last season with his reliable and error-free displays. He played every league game without injury, won 63% of his duels, and made no mistakes leading to goals.

His consistent availability contrasts with Spurs’ current centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven, who have both struggled with injuries over the past two campaigns.

Though Paris Saint-Germain have also shown strong interest, with bids up to £52m rejected, the Ukrainian international reportedly prefers a move to the French champions.

However, Spurs are still pushing to secure a deal, seeing Zabarnyi as an instant-impact player who could anchor their backline.

Pundit Jamie Redknapp praised the young defender for going “under the radar” with his performances, while talent scout Jacek Kulig once described him as a “complete” player.

Given his consistency, fitness, and composure, Zabarnyi could prove to be an even more impactful signing for Tottenham than Kudus.

If Spurs can land him, they’ll be adding a reliable cornerstone to their defensive rebuild.
