Emerson Palmieri Makes a U-Turn on His West Ham Future
West Ham left-back Emerson Palmieri now looks set to extend his stay at the club despite previous expectations of a departure.
Ahead of last season, reports suggested the former Chelsea defender was keen to move on from West Ham.
Back in January, Juve Live claimed Juventus were interested in signing the 30-year-old.
Additionally, there have been suggestions that the West Ham board was eager to sell him this summer to generate funds.
However, The Athletic now reports that Potter sees Emerson as an integral part of his plans.
The player himself is also reportedly very happy at the club and no longer looking for an exit.
Emerson Reveals the West Ham Player He Hated Facing
Emerson joined the Hammers from Chelsea in the summer of 2022. While it took him some time to settle in, he has performed well over the past two seasons.
However, before becoming a West Ham player, he found one particular opponent especially tough to play against.
Speaking on the Iron Cast podcast, Emerson admitted that facing Jarrod Bowen was a nightmare:
“I played against Jarrod for the first time and thought, ‘Oh my God.’ This guy doesn’t stop. He never stops running,” Emerson recalled.
He elaborated on how difficult Bowen was to handle:
“When I go forward, he’s always with me. West Ham always wins the ball back, and he just keeps going. It’s really hard to find space.”
Now teammates, Emerson and Bowen will be crucial figures as Potter reshapes the squad ahead of the new season.
