Everton Announce Signing of Talented Defender on Three-Year Deal, Kevin Thelwell Expresses Satisfaction

Everton have confirmed the signing of teenage defender William Tamen.

The 18-year-old joins from Burton Albion on a three-year deal and will initially link up with Everton’s under-21 squad.

Last season, Tamen made three appearances for Burton Albion, including one in League One and two in the EFL Trophy.

Notably, his professional debut was against Everton under-21s.

Tamen expressed his excitement about the move to Goodison Park, stating, “I’m delighted. It’s a dream come true to join a Premier League club.

My ambition is to play Premier League football, something I’ve dreamed of since I was young. Everton’s environment, with young centre-backs progressing and senior players to learn from, is perfect for my development.”

He added, “I aim to gain as much experience as possible with the under-21s in Premier League 2, and hopefully, earn opportunities to train with the senior team and make appearances.”

Director of football Kevin Thelwell commented on the club’s website, “We’re very pleased to welcome Will to the club.

He’s already demonstrated his talent with valuable minutes in the EFL. We look forward to helping him reach his potential at Finch Farm and continue his impressive journey.”

Tamen is the latest addition to Everton’s academy this summer, following the arrivals of Omari Benjamin from Arsenal for the under-21s, and Braiden Graham from Linfield, and Ceiran Loney from Partick Thistle, who have signed scholarship terms.
