Steve Cooper has revealed his opinion on £10m Leicester City target, unsettling Leeds United
Former Swansea City boss Steve Cooper is in “advanced talks” to become the new manager of Leicester City.
The Foxes have been seeking a new head coach since Enzo Maresca departed the King Power Stadium to manage Premier League side Chelsea.
The search for Maresca’s successor narrowed down to two former Swansea bosses: Steve Cooper and Graham Potter.
Graham Potter has been without a job since his departure from Chelsea last season, while Cooper and his former club, Nottingham Forest, also parted ways last term.
It now seems that Cooper has emerged as the front-runner to take the helm in the east Midlands, and the club is already focusing on transfer targets. Leicester, set to play top-flight football again next season, have shown interest in £10 million-rated defender Joe Rodon, despite not yet having a manager in place.
Joe Rodon, the Wales center-back, spent the last season on loan at Leeds United from Tottenham Hotspur. Despite signing a contract extension with Tottenham this summer, Rodon is anticipated to leave the club permanently, with Leicester, Leeds, Southampton, and Ipswich Town all competing for his signature.
Cooper previously worked with Rodon during their time at Swansea, where he quickly became an admirer of the defender. Early in his tenure at Swansea.com Stadium, Cooper recognized Rodon’s significant potential and promising future in football, stating, “I think Joe is a big player for us.”
