Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has caught the attention of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) following his impressive performances for Belgium at Euro 2024, as reported by Foot Mercato.
According to the French outlet (27 June), PSG, Manchester United, and Barcelona are all interested in signing the 22-year-old this summer. Everton is expected to demand up to £50.8 million for the transfer.
PSG’s interest in Onana comes after he was described as “the exception” in a Belgium team “without imagination” during the Euro 2024 group stages. Manchester United has reportedly withdrawn from the race to sign Onana due to their focus on PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Meanwhile, PSG views Onana as a more affordable option compared to Benfica’s Joao Neves.
Amadou Onana appears to be nearing an exit from Everton. Given the number of clubs interested in him, he seems unlikely to remain at Goodison Park next season. Onana hinted at a potential transfer this summer, telling Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws (30 May) that he aimed to “present himself” to Europe’s elite clubs at Euro 2024.
Everton’s financial struggles over the past year suggest that player sales are inevitable this summer.
