Leicester City couldn’t hope for a better “impact” striker than Jamie Vardy, according to his former teammate Robert Huth.
Vardy is gearing up for another Premier League campaign after signing a new one-year contract following the club’s promotion. However, Huth believes that the 37-year-old won’t be the primary attacking option for new manager Steve Cooper in every game.
A new striker is likely to be a priority for Cooper, who took over this week, given that Vardy and Patson Daka are currently the only senior strikers at the club.
“I think it’s fair to say Vardy won’t expect to start every game,” said Huth. “But right now, he’s one of only two senior strikers we have.
“We are looking for other strikers as well. Depending on who we bring in, that could have a significant impact.”
“However, if we need a goal with 10 or 15 minutes to go, I couldn’t wish for a better player to come on because he’s an impact player, that’s for sure,” Huth added, speaking to Gambling.com.
