Steve Cooper Set to Launch Leicester City Transfer Spree with Loan Deal

Leicester City are reportedly close to securing the loan signing of Facundo Buonanotte from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion, as manager Steve Cooper prepares for a busy end to the summer transfer window.

The Foxes will wrap up their pre-season schedule this weekend with a match against Ligue 1 club Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Although the new season begins the following Monday night with a home game against Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium, the transfer window will remain open for nearly two more weeks, giving Leicester ample time to strengthen their squad.

According to the Daily Mail, Buonanotte is expected to be the first of several new signings before the transfer window closes.

The 19-year-old Argentine, who recently broke into the national team and earned a couple of caps, is poised to join Leicester on loan.

Brighton is reportedly willing to loan out the young playmaker to provide him with more first-team experience, and Leicester is set to benefit from this move.

Buonanotte made 27 Premier League appearances for Brighton last season under Roberto De Zerbi, scoring in matches against Chelsea, Crystal Palace, and Sheffield United. He joined Brighton in 2022 from Rosario Central in Argentina.

Cooper, who took charge of Leicester this summer following Enzo Maresca’s departure, aims to bolster his squad with additional first-team players as the club gears up for the upcoming season.

So far, Leicester has secured the services of last season’s loanee Abdul Fatawu, free transfer Bobby Decordova-Reid, Caleb Okoli, and Michael Golding.
