Instead of bold spending, he’ll likely face a more conservative and uncertain approach to recruitment, perhaps with just one key signing if he’s lucky.

After significant investment during the reigns of Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter, and with further additions made in the summer, the club may be wary of overspending again.

But the difference this time is clear — West Ham are no longer trying to survive a relegation battle; they’re trying to escape one.

If Nuno is to succeed, he must be backed in the January transfer window.

Without reinforcements, relegation could become inevitable, as the current squad lacks both the quality and the structure to execute his tactics effectively.

The team needs around three to four new players to restore balance and direction. A few smart additions could be the spark needed to steer the club to safety.

Estimating the financial outlay is tricky given today’s inflated market, but if Nuno were handed a budget of around £40–50 million, he could likely deliver Premier League survival as a late Christmas gift to the supporters.

While that sum may appear steep, the cost of dropping into the Championship would be far greater.
