“Put into perspective…” – Journalist Gives Verdict on Dyche’s Job Security at Everton

Sean Dyche’s future at Everton has been under heavy scrutiny since the season began, and although there have been recent improvements, doubts remain about his long-term prospects.

Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside on November 11, Opta deputy editor Ridge shared his thoughts on Dyche’s situation.

“It’s seven league wins in 2024 now, you have to consider that,” he said.

“Yes, there’s one defeat in eight, and in that context, I don’t think Dyche will be sacked.

He could point to that run and ask, ‘What more do you want me to do?'”

However, Ridge added, “If you look at it over a longer period—seven league wins since last December and only two this season—I’m not necessarily saying a change is needed, but there’s more to be done within the squad.”

Despite sitting 16th in the Premier League, Everton are only three points ahead of the relegation zone.

Their disastrous start to the 2024/25 season set them on a poor trajectory, and by now, they should have had enough time to recover.

With the Friedkin Group’s takeover nearing completion, Dyche’s future is becoming even more uncertain.

Once Dan Friedkin takes control, his track record at Roma suggests he won’t tolerate underperformance from managers.

Dyche’s ability to get the best out of key players, especially Dominic Calvert-Lewin, will be crucial.

If results don’t improve soon, Dyche’s tenure at Goodison Park could come to an abrupt end.

With Everton dangerously close to the drop zone, they risk getting pulled into another relegation battle this season unless they find consistency quickly.
